Latest News from Membury - Newbury Weekly News
In a 2008 survey, 84 per cent of people said they go on-line to find information about goods and services yet so often, businesses are not reaching a fraction of them.
Two of WSI’s most experienced professional internet marketers – John Warr and Marcus Roskill - have combined their teams and now work from new offices in the Membury Logistics Business Park, in West Berkshire. They report that the most common mistakes businesses make with the internet are:
- Thinking that you’re home and dry if you have a nice looking website. The key is to drive visitors to your website;
- Not analysing what your competitors are doing so you can stay one step ahead;
- Not having an on-line marketing strategy with clear objectives and a defined return on investment;
- Not appreciating that investment in internet marketing can - not only increase business - but can also cut your costs in the long run;
- Getting bogged down in the jargon surrounding it and not fully understanding its potential;
“If you find you are falling behind your competition, your internet marketing is one of the first of your business activities that should come under scrutiny. Most businesses still have the potential – with our help - to increase their orders or sales by 20 per cent in a matter of days – and it need not cost a fortune,” explained WSI consultant John Warr.
John Warr and Marcus Roskill are joined by designer Gordon Jeffrey and internet marketing executives Vanessa Kilgour and Jane Loxton. Between them they have well over 20 years of experience and an unrivalled track record in internet marketing across all sectors from engineering and manufacturing, through to hotel and catering and retail e-commerce.
As WSI consultants the Berkshire team are members of the WSI global network, which means that West Berkshire businesses – from small to large - can now find leading edge web and internet marketing solutions at their fingertips. Even more importantly, these are delivered by a professional local team who are close by, and can work hand-in-hand with them to grow their business through the internet.
Banbury Plastic Fittings is one company who has done just that. It had been relying on repeat business, word-of-mouth-referrals and a limited amount of direct mail but once it enlisted the help of WSI to make the move to e-commerce, it never looked back.
“We had hesitated over the move to e-commerce as it was most definitely out of our comfort zone. Having Marcus and his team there to guide us, gave us the confidence to make that leap of faith and it was probably the best decision we’ve made. Margins have increased dramatically and it has had a hugely positive impact on our business all-round,” said Jason Stead, BPF’s sales director. |
